Google,Baidu race to set up online library in china.
Web search leader Google and its top rival in China, Baidu are racing to develop their online library services as they battle for a slice of the world’s second-largest Internet market.
Baidu is already partnership with peking university library which is in Beijing, one of Asia’s largest academic libraries.
Google and Baidu are enlarging their services in China, the world’s second-largest Internet market after the United States with around 137 million Web users. Baidu recently won approval to do its own reporting before that they simply show news search results.more, Google is also developing a Chinese-language map search service and online word processing programs. Both hope to partner with or buy local video sites.

Be very aware that Google from China is heavily censored compared to Google when your connection is coming from other parts of the world, just like all the search-engines who are working with the Chinese government are.
There are actually ways of testing this; for example, at 23C3 there was a lecture by a German person who rented a server in China and compared DNS lookups, searching and other normal Internet activies as experienced from Germany and from China.
China is a huge market, so it is understandable that corporations are willing to do very bad things when that is demanded of them in order to get a market share, but .. censorship and torture is bad regardless.
Never forget that Yahoo was asked to give up the name of a Chinese blogger who then - because of Yahoo ratting him out - got 10 years in a Chinese prison. For blogging! (Keep in mind that this is common within the NATO alliance too, but somewhat differently, Norway don’t imprison people, they just covertly torture them until they are willing to shut up).
Eyeball the search-engines. You’re almost blind on the Internet without the search-engines telling you what is where, which makes it that much worse when they say “Muthuganesh? We don’t like that blog. We’re going to censor it so it doesn’t show up in our search-results”.

Dai Google,Baidu pathilam ezhudura periya aala aita da.By the way,Googe is the leader in rest of the world but not in china as Baidu is more localised.You should think of India also.If there is a healthy competition in India for Google,,it will try to improve and localise the services for India too.So my suggestion is better you develop a search engine that will competite with Google.
